He alone spreads out the heavens...
The closest star to us is Proxima Centauri. It is 4.22 light years away.
It doesn’t look too far until you convert it to say...kilometres. It is approximately 40 trillion kilometres from the earth.
The earth is about 150 million kilometres from the sun. That means Proxima Centauri is over 300,000 times farther away than the sun is to the earth.
On current maximum rocket speed, it will take approximately 78,000 years on a one way trip to get to Proxima Centauri our nearest star.
There are over 400 billion stars in this our galaxy alone.
Over 100 billion planets in the Milky Way.
Over a trillion stars in the Andromeda Galaxy.
It is the nearest galaxy to us and it sits 2.5 million light years away from us.
If we can travel at the speed of light which is approximately 300 million metres per second, it will take us 2.5 million years to get there.
That is just a quick trip ‘down the road’ to our nearest neighbour.
The Hubble Space Telescope estimates there are about 100 million galaxies in the universe, but new data fundings suggest there may be ten times that amount....One Trillion Galaxies.
The God of creation chose the earth, and in 4 simple words, He started by saying LET THERE BE LIGHT!
In my quest for knowledge, I bought an app called Stellarium for £9.99 because It gives you real time feedback of the space.
All you have to do is turn your device up and pick up any star. It will give you the name of the star, it’s distance, galaxy, constellation and every info on record for that star.
I remember tracking and following the International Space centre in the earth lower orbit on Tuesday.
I love using the Western sky culture which has Greek and ancient Middle East mapping of the space.
I could decide to use ancient Egyptian or Arabian or Chinese or the Aztec sky culture. I have been enjoying the richness of the space recently.
At 10:15am today in the town of Huddersfield facing the South, I lifted my device up using the Stellarium app to capture the real time space objects.
To the visible eyes, you can barely see anything. Thank God for technology, I could remove the landscape and sunlight effect to see behind the sun.....then I saw an amazing thing....
The Sun, the Moon and the Mars all in the constellation of Virgo. I saw Venus and Mercury all lining up behind. Moving in the SW direction brings other planets and space objects more into focus.
Further thanks to technology, I could bring into scope of my view all the pictorial descriptions of the captured space over Huddersfield. Lady Virgo known as the Virgin in many cultures was up there.
I zoomed in and zoomed out. I spun around to see more and I could imagine what David must have been seen every single night he was out there in the field with his father’s flock. Psalms 19 said it all.....it is all the glory of the Lord that is displayed in the heavens.
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands...
