THE REST OF THE WORLD DURING THE BIBLE TIMES

Have you ever wondered at the kind of events going on in other parts of the world during the bible times when the people of Israel lived in their land?

It was said of Benjamin Disraeli (an anglicised Jew and twice former Conservative Prime Minister of Britain), that during a hot debate, he shut down a fellow MP who insulted his Jewish ancestry with:
“While your ancestors were painting themselves blue, my ancestors were worshipping one God.”� (The Picts, early inhabitants of Scotland, for some strange reason did paint themselves blue.)

Again, in 1835 Daniel O’Connell, the Irish Roman Catholic leader, attacked Disraeli in the House of Commons. In the course of his unrestrained invective, he referred to Disraeli’s Jewish ancestry. Disraeli replied, ‘Yes, I am a Jew, and while the ancestors of the right honorable gentleman were brutal savages in an unknown island, mine were priests in the temple of Solomon.'”�

During his lifetime, Disraeli never held back from sharing his mind on his ancestry even when they had no access to their land. Some other things he said were:

"On the sixth day, God turned to the angel Gabriel…
“¨”¨ “On this day, I shall create a magic land. It shall”¨be called Israel. It will stand as holy. Its magnificence “¨will be known all over the world. I will choose to send to this land special people of goodness, intelligence, and conviction, so the land shall prosper. I shall call “¨these inhabitants Jews.”

And again..

“The view of Jerusalem is the history of the world; it is more, it is the history of earth and of heaven.” Benjamin Disraeli

So, let us look at the Timelines of the rest of the world at the time some individuals made the headlines in the Holy Bible.

1.
Between 1316BC and 1236BC, Judge Ehud Book of Joshua) saved the Israelites who were now settled in Canaan from the Moabites, the Ammonites and the Amalekites, and Israel had peace for 80 years.

Meanwhile, in other parts of the world, Stonehenge which was built in stages over a thousand years was completed circa 1250 BC in England.

The Greeks fought the Trojans circa 1200 BC.

And circa 1200 BC, a people called the Olmecs created a civilization in Mexico. It was the first civilization in the Western Hemisphere.

Circa 900 BC The first civilization in South America arose, in Peru

And Rome was just founded Circa 750 BC

Meanwhile in the Middle East, the Assyrians were the World super power in what is now Northern Iraq.

Circa 785BC to 775BC, The prophet Jonah lived around this time and got swallowed by a whale after trying to dodge relaying God's message to the Assyrians in Nineveh. He was trying to run to Tarshish which was another name for the British Isles according to many commentators.

Circa 760BC to 750 BC, Prophet Amos lived around this time. Israel was a very rich kingdom but the wealth was unevenly distributed. Amos was appalled by the oppression of the poor by the rich and he demanded social justice.

740BC - 686BC The prophet Micah lived in Judah. Micah strongly criticized the rich for oppressing the poor

c. 750BC - 715BC The prophet Hosea appealed to the people of Israel to stop worshiping idols and return to God.

Do you know that the people called Celts arrived in Britain circa 650BC and they introduced iron tools and weapons.

Meanwhile, somewhere in the Middle East, between 686BC and 642BC, Manasseh was king of Judah. Manasseh the son of Hezekiah who ruled for 55 years was an evil king who departed from his righteous father's way of life.

Then, the Babylonians (now modern Iraq, and now occupied by Arabs) were just a rising force to emerge from under the declining Assyrian empire.
