158 years ago in April 1861, the Southern Democrats under the Confederate Army Flag went to war with the Northern Republicans because of slavery.
The Republicans under Lincoln has declared the Negroes free and banned all forms of slavery, but the Democrats who believed in Jacksonian Democracy strongly pushed for and defended slavery.
It was bloodied and brutal. 4 years later, the Republicans won and Lincoln paid with his life. Yet, the blacks were still disenfranchised massively in the south for the next 100 years.
Martin Luther King was one of the people that laid down their lives for the black race. He was assassinated in 1968 barely in his 30s.
Today, the almost 400 acres piece of land that used to be The Confederates Army Base in Atlanta Georgia is owned solely by a black man, a defendant of ‘negroes’ the Democrats Confederacy wanted to remain perpetually as slaves.
His name his Tyler Perry, and he is doing what no other person has dared to do in the American Film industry. He bought this Army Base and built his own mega studio there to give chance and opportunities to the Blacks that Hollywood would not take on board. He even has an exact replica of the White House built on this land.
His state of the art studio is bigger than Warner’s, Paramount, Disney and Sony all combined. And there is nothing you want to shoot that is not or cannot be taken care of.
One thing he said that struck a chord with me is this: “Don’t wait for anyone to invite you to his table, make your own table”. (Paraphrased).
He was an abused child that watched his mother abused growing up. But he used this pain to write his own story and standing his ground.
Don’t wait for anyone to give you invitation to breakthrough, break through the barriers yourself with God in your side.
Thank you Tyler Perry ‘Madea’ for being an inspiration.
