In the UK, I am a common man. I am unknown.
I can’t even afford the cheapest private school education for my children. All my trusts are lumped in the public sector and under local authorities.
This has nothing to do with the central or regional government! It is the immediate Local Authorities that see to it that the minimum standard of education and well-being of children is never breached!
Local Authorities that won’t pray in Jesus name to start a meeting and finish with Allahu Akbar prayer after the meeting.
I only have to pay my taxes and leave the rest to the ‘ungodly’ leaders who will never pray to any god to start a meeting on how to judiciously spend public money.
I don’t pay any fees. Never paid any fees. And I can still walk bare chested to the school to make a strong complaint if I am not pleased with anything.
My 3 year old son will start school this September. He didn’t have to register. We didn’t have to lobby to register him. He automatically got registered to the same school as his big sisters minutes after the registration of his birth! We only waited to get a letter of invitation when he was 3 in May to bring him around to check his school and class out.
He even had no idea of what was going on. He didn’t want to leave the classroom because he already loved the setting. He was just playing with the sand packed inside the classroom.
It wasn’t his fault. He has never played or walked on any sand yet in the 3 years he has lived so far. So he didn’t want to leave the place of the sand despite sections of toys and walls where he could paint waiting for him to explore.
I thought, only if he could see African sand for once. He will start FREE in September. His mother already got his school uniforms. His life’s journey has been prepped. He has been given the same level ground of advantage that his big sisters have with the other kids in the land.
I nearly fell off my chair when I saw the school fees that same children as mine were being asked to pay! How can a child of 3 years be paying 6 figures to learn ABC and paint? Something You Tube can teach them free at home? I forgot....no electricity....no data!
But the last picture broke my heart. They were probably born about the same time as my daughters. They have never seen electricity before. They were never given the same life advantage. They were never given the opportunity to widen their imagination or given a level playing ground to start their life’s journey.
What hurts me most is that the politicians and local leaders of the communities these poor children are raised WILL USE STOLEN MONEY TO SEND THEIR OWN CHILDREN AND FAMILY OUT OF THE COUNTRY TO HAVE BETTER OPPORTUNITIES.
I learnt that the community of the children below has a good voting bloc that the politicians will kill to get. When they come to beg for your votes, they have only come to rob your future. The sad thing is that many of these children will end up to cause heartaches in future laden with crimes.
When are the leaders going to give them hope?
When will they be given life?
Mind you, a child denied of hope and a future today will grow up and go into crime to dash your hope in your children you sustained with stolen wealth and crush your old age.
Many times I want to keep quiet and ignore things going on, but that’s not how I was raised.
If you feel there is no cause for alarm, no wahala. When wahala reaches your steps nobody will be left to raise alarm again.
I fear the pulpits that have stopped talking because of the money the politicians bring to them. But one day, the yoke will be removed and both the users of the pulpits and the politicians will be consumed.
Cross River......do the right thing!!!
