Rishi Sunak is the 39 year old now number 2 at the Treasury after the Chancellor of the Exchequer as the Chief Secretary to the Treasury.

He will be very instrumental in deciding our direction in the following areas:
- public expenditure, including:
- spending reviews and strategic planning in-year spending control
- public sector pay and pensions
- Annually Managed Expenditure (AME) and welfare reform
- efficiency and value for money in public service
- procurement
- capital investment
- infrastructure spending
- housing and planning
- spending issues related to trade
- transport policy, including HS2, Crossrail 2, Roads, Network Rail, Oxford/Cambridge corridor
- Treasury interest in devolution to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland
- women in the economy
- childcare policy, including tax-free childcare tax credits policy
- labour market policy

The Chief Secretary To Treasury will be engaged on ALL issues of public spending, so his decision or proposals will definitely impact you one way or the other.

AFRICANS IN DIASPORA, thinkkkkkkk!

The right course of study, the right motivation, and joining grass root politics....the sky is the Iimit.

Imagine if his GP parents had forced him to study Medicine! He studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics! He became MP at 35 and within 4 years, he is now a player in cabinet meeting.

Most importantly, encourage your children to engage actively in politics here. It is about £20 to £25 (Conservative for example) minimum a year to be a party member that can vote for a party leader. That is a typical Chinese dinner order.

It is safe and you don’t have to borrow money to contest elective position when opportunities pop up. Just let them make themselves available.

We may love to chase sport money and covet celebrity status, but the people that matter most are those few people who take decisions in those small rooms. Not a bad idea to be counted among them.
